Vehicles in Germany's City Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Officers reported they were contacted by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau covered with red-colored liquid

Around 50 automobiles have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, occasionally with swastikas, they stated in a release.

Law enforcement state they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued liquid.

The substance had been drawn in the form of a Nazi symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then located numerous other vandalized cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations outlawing the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement state initial examinations show the fluid was most likely blood from a person.

"There is still no indication as to its source; authorities are not yet aware of any harm in association with the event," they added.

Local authorities said they were working "to solve the mystery" and have asked to the public for tips.

A high-ranking political figure commented the vandalism left him without words and had to be resolved rapidly.

"This act strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, referring to the killing of nine people by a assailant focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in February 2020.
